I found this blog post from several years ago that I feel is still very relevant today:

It talks about Interaction designers spending their time on discussion groups and forums debating and discussing why the field is important and other things about their jobs. When really we should be spending our time out in the world actually doing what we are preaching and not worrying about what others think. Man, this is totally true. How many times in your life were you able to make change by talking to others about change? None. Unless the other person decided to do something about it.

Let's all get off our butts and make things happen. Find what you want and get out there and promote it.
